What are the common side effects?

Common side effects can include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache and fatigue, and are most common while your dose is being adjusted. Less common but serious risks include inflammation of the pancreas, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar, kidney problems and allergic reactions.

Who should not take these medications?

GLP-1 medications carry a boxed warning for a risk of thyroid C-cell tumors and are not for use in anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2. A licensed provider makes that determination based on your full history.
